The course will be held on 13 September 2023 at the Miramar Palace in Donostia – San Sebastian.

Entitled “Value Based Healthcare. Perspective and strategies from the health services, methodological approach and successful experiences”, this course is part of the program of the summer courses organized every year by the University of the Basque Country, UPV-EHU. The main objective is to raise awareness and provide evidence-based scientific knowledge on the implementation and evaluation methodologies surrounding the new paradigm.

Organized by Biosistemak (formerly Kronikgune), it will address the Value Based Healthcare model, an innovative strategic framework aimed at guiding healthcare services in their reorganization towards the provision of care focused on value for the patient at the best cost. This new paradigm combines three essential elements: systems for measuring health outcomes of value to patients; organization of care practice around clinical processes or conditions; and cost per patient throughout the process.

It is worth highlighting the strategic commitment of the Basque health authorities, which in recent years have been working to promote Value Based Healthcare in Osakidetza Basque Health Service. The summer course will also present the impact of the experiences in Osakidetza and the advances made to improve the quality of care, the health outcomes perceived by patients, and the optimization of costs.
