The event took place on 12 May at the Biosistemak headquarters in the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Barakaldo.

The EvaluAES group organized its annual workshop on Health Policy and Service Evaluation Research in the Basque Country. The main objective of this new edition was to promote multidisciplinary exchange between researchers, as well as to contribute to improving the quality and dissemination of scientific research in this field. During the conference, 6 articles were presented, including works based on evaluative research, such as the evaluation of the implementation or impact of policies related to the health system or health; or the evaluation of non-health policies that affect health, in the framework of environmental, labor or educational policies.

The director of Health Innovation and Research of the Basque Government, Marian Ibarrondo, and the director of Health Care of Osakidetza, Victor Bustamante, were in charge of welcoming the participants to the workshop. Researchers, managers, and healthcare professionals from the Basque Country and other regions of Spain, as well as the management of Biosistemak (formerly Kronikgune), attended the event.

Among the presentations made, we highlight the presentation did by Borja García-Lorenzo, Health Economist at Biosistemak (formerly Kronikgune), who shared the work Disentangling the Value Equation: A Step Forward in Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) framed in the VOICE community. VBHC proposes managing health systems based on Patient-Centred Outcomes (PCOs), combining health and economic outcomes to determine the value of health care. The work presented aimed to demonstrate a methodology for combining PCOs in the context of breast cancer, and to provide a single figure for the numerator of the value equation introduced by Porter et al. to determine VBHC.
