CALL FOR PAPERS

The EvaluAES group is organizing its twelfth workshop on Research in Health Policy and Services Evaluation, which will take place on 12 May 2023 at the Kronikgune, at the Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC). The aim of this workshop is to promote multidisciplinary exchange between researchers, as well as to contribute to improving the quality and broadening the dissemination of scientific research in this field.

Date: 12 May 2023

Place: Kronikgune, Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC)

23 December: Deadline for submission of abstracts of 500 words.

Abstracts should be submitted using the following form.

Abstracts must be based on evaluative research, such as the evaluation of the implementation or impact of a policy related to the health system or health, and may use any methodological framework. EvaluAES also encourages the submission of papers related to the evaluation of policies that include environmental and ecological factors, the analysis of environmental policies in health, or the evaluation of the environmental impact of the health sector. Papers in draft form that could benefit from discussion in the group before being closed for publication will be encouraged.

The Organising Committee will review and select the papers to be presented at the workshop, following the Paper Selection Criteria (available in the Workshop Operating Guidelines). The results will be communicated to the authors by the end of January.

Once accepted, the selected authors will have until 1 May to send an extended draft of the article, which will be sent to the expert who will act as a commentator as described below.

Each accepted article will be commented on, in the same workshop, by an expert in the corresponding field. The author will have 20 minutes to present the paper (supported by a presentation); the commentator will then discuss the study’s merits for 10 minutes, offering suggestions for improving the quality of the study. The idea is a constructive discussion that allows us all to reflect and the authors to get ideas on possible improvements or links with other published or ongoing work that may be of interest to their subject. In the same spirit, a period for general discussion (with all participants) will be opened for another 15 minutes.

More information on this and previous workshops can be found on the EvaluAES group website.
