Biosistemak joins the Liveration project for the sharing of innovative cancer-related practices
This initiative highlights the importance of including patients and their families in the research process, promoting a more humane approach.
The research institute is already involved in the Liveration project, an EU-funded initiative that aims to improve cancer care and treatment through collaboration and knowledge sharing between different actors in the sector. This project focuses on the importance of involving patients in all phases of cancer-related projects, thus promoting a more inclusive and effective approach to research and care.
The main objective of Liveration is to develop a framework that enables the active participation of patients, their families, health professionals, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders in decision-making on treatments and health policies. In this sense, Biosistemak has started its participation in the project as a stakeholder agent, thanks to experience and work in the JANE-2 sustainability work package.
Collaboration with other European initiatives
In a recent scientific publication, findings have been presented highlighting the need for effective patient engagement and empowerment, as well as the importance of clear communication and inclusive participation in cancer research.
The Liveration project is based on the creation of innovation spaces, “Living Labs“, where solutions and strategies that respond to the specific needs of patients and their environments can be co-created. These living labs allow different actors to collaborate and share experiences, resulting in a more holistic approach adapted to local realities.
Commitment to inclusion and sustainability
One of the most striking aspects of Liveration is its focus on assessing patient quality of life and the social impact of interventions. Through a mixed-methods approach, it aims to collect data to better understand how health decisions affect patients and their families. This will not only contribute to improving health care, but will also enable the development of more effective, patient-centred policies.
Liveration also faces significant challenges, such as the need to integrate different cultural and linguistic perspectives, as well as the management of diverse interests among stakeholders. To address these challenges, one of the key actions of the action is to foster the exchange of good practices and collaboration across disciplines and sectors.
Towards an equitable health system
As the project progresses, Biosistemak will continue to lead efforts to ensure that, sustainability and inclusion are fundamental pillars of cancer research. The institute is committed to continuing to develop strategies that promote the active participation of patients and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring that their needs, concerns and interests are an integral part of the decision-making process about the treatments offered.
Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, it is hoped that this project will not only benefit patients, but also contribute to the creation of a more equitable and effective healthcare system in the fight against cancer. The initiative is a clear example of how research and practice can come together to make a positive impact on the lives of people affected by cancer.
