The conference takes place May 3-6 of 2023 in Rome, Italy.

The World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) in association with the Italian Society of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health (SItI) and the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) are the organizers of the 17th World Congress in Public Health. The theme of this edition was “A world in crisis: opportunities to focus on Public Health”. More than 3000 public health professionals and researchers, policymakers, and students gathered in Rome for four days to share experiences, programs, strategies, and projects, as well as to discuss relevant public health topics, such as health promotion, digital transformation, equity, health impact assessment, and others.

The Biosistemak Institute (formerly Kronikgune) has had the opportunity to present the community intervention that is being carried out in Euskadi in the framework of the European project Gatekeeper, “Use Case 1 Health Promotion”. This intervention aims to promote health promotion in the elderly through the MAHA mobile application. The study implemented in the Basque Country, has the collaboration of more than 39 community organizations working directly with the elderly and for active and healthy aging. The organizations that are collaborating in the intervention are: 11 Integrated Health Organizations (OSIs) of Osakidetza, betiON Public Telecare Service, UPV-EHU, Active Patient Program – Paziente Bizia, Osasun Eskola, Adiberri Foundation, Mugiment Program, Eusko Federpen, Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, Araba Provincial Council, SSI Group, and Las Cuatro Torres.

The entities through their channels and with the help of informative materials invite the elderly to participate in the intervention and to download and register for the MAHA mobile application. The application offers content, information and materials structured in four main functionalities:

– Learn: Information and recommendations to educate on health and healthy habits (physical exercise, nutrition, emotional health, etc.).

– Actívate: Maintain mobility by recording your activity

– Know yourself: Self-assessment of health and mood through questionnaires.

– Have fun: Encourage socialization in your environment by offering information on events, activities, etc.

MAHA is available in Spanish and Basque, and for Android (through Google Play) and Apple (from App Store).
